Last February Johnsonville Rotary launched its “Toot4Tucker” collection in Newlands, collecting dry and canned food items (and donations if you wish) for our local Foodbanks. We’re doing it again on the evening of Tuesday 24 February 2026 from 6:00pm.
You will see us coming as we will be wearing Hi Viz vests and you’ll certainly hear us coming thanks to the fantastic support from the Newlands Volunteer Fire Service and their Fire Engine!
The Fire Truck will lead the way with flashing lights and the siren to alert families on the route that collectors are coming on foot or in tooting vehicles.
Beginning at 6pm at junction of Horokiwi Road West and Baylands Drive in Newlands, we will be following a circular route in Newlands (see map below). Please donate any dry and canned food you can spare to the team with the fire engine and support the Kiwi Community Assistance and local Food Banks.

Starts 6pm on Tuesday 24th February at junction of Horokiwi Road West and Baylands Drive Newlands.
Proceeding along Baylands Drive and then turning left and into Somes Crescent
Proceeding along Somes Crescent and turning left into Sunhaven Drive and onto Dress Circle
Taking a left turn on to Domett Street and then right on to Kenmore Street
Then taking a right onto Horokiwi Road West, and finishing at the corner of Baylands Drive at approximately 7:30pm
The Newlands fire team are very happy for any family members to have their photo taken sitting in the fire engine as we make our way around the collection route. Please have your phone or camera ready and let one of the collectors know on the night.
We’ll see you on Tuesday evening 24 February from 6:00pm. For those not directly on the collection route, or if you miss us on the night, please ring William Nobelen (Johnsonville Rotary) 027 426 6504 to arrange collection from your home or local workplace.
Thank you everyone for your generous support.
A wonderful project organized by Johnsonville Rotary with the very kind support of the team at Newlands Volunteer Fire Service, Kiwi Community Assistance, Wellington North Community Patrol, Athula Wanasinghe and Collective First National.
