In November 2020, Johnsonville Rotary and Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Brigade is pleased to be again running the annual “Toot For Tucker” in Johnsonville and Churton Park, collecting food items for families and individuals who are in need over the high demand holiday season.

The Fire Truck leads the way with flashing lights and the siren to alert families on the routes taken that collectors on behalf of Johnsonville Rotary and Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Brigade are coming on foot or in tooting vehicles. There has always been a wonderful response from people on the routes, with a wide variety or non- perishable food items, and cash donated. The cash is used to purchase additional essentials, at cost, at Newlands New World.

“Toot for Tucker” began in Johnsonville in 2013, after some Johnsonville Rotary club members assisted the Tawa Rotary club with its “Toot for Tucker” collection. Tawa Rotary, and others in Tawa, initiated this project in 2011. Plimmerton Rotary has also subsequently run “Toot for Tucker”. Johnsonville Rotary has adjusted the project to suit our local conditions, and the current model used works well.

The Johnsonville Rotary club does this to help make a difference in our community, when many families and individuals are experiencing tough times and are stressed. The Fire Brigade and those who have donated items of food, or cash, have helped Johnsonville Rotary to assist less fortunate people in our community.

Johnsonville Rotary is extremely thankful to all those who gave and give so generously.

The Johnsonville Rotary’s Christmas Market will return on Saturday December 5 2020 – the same day as the Johnsonville Christmas Parade.

In 2019 the wet and windy weather unfortunately forced a last minute cancellation of the Christmas Market and the Christmas Parade. This year, weather permitting, the Christmas Market promises to be bigger and better than ever!

If you would like to be a stallholder at the market and reserve a place, then please contact us using this link
